Lyrics

for the past 28 years I' ve been living in germany
and I had a decent job there
working in a brewery in frankfurt
and for five years I've been saving all the money I could spare
for a trip to america

upon arriving in the states I went directly to my hotel
and got a room on the third floor
I was looking forward to meeting american women
drinking american beer, smoking american cigarettes
and seeing a culture I didn't know
but soon my problems began

you see in germany we have a ground floor
which let's you leave the building
it is the way to exit the building
but in america there is no ground floor

people told me to leave the hotel was on the first floor
but I was afraid to break my legs
because you know when you leave the building on the first floor
you have to fall on the ground floor

now I sit nere in my room and look out the window
and I see all the people on the streets
the pretty girls
and I wonder how do they got out of their buildings

I wanna meet them
I wanna get outside
I want to leave my hotel
but I can't
all I can do is sit here in my room and smoke cigarettes
and watch the people outside
all i can do is watch the people outside

but now I just looked at my last pack of cigarettes
those cigarettes I bought at the dutyfree shop in the frankfurt airport
and now I see that there is only one cigarette left
this is gonna be my last cigarette
what will I do
I have to leave the hotel 'cause I need cigarettes
what will I do
what will I do
